Frequently asked questions
What’s the main difference between Mission Command and Supernova?
Mission Command is a standard homeschooling package that offers a structured, ready-to-use curriculum with guidance from experienced advisors. It’s ideal for families who want to follow a solid plan but are also comfortable being hands-on, especially for younger children.
Supernova, on the other hand, is a premium all-inclusive program with full administrative support, weekly check-ins, and minimal parental involvement. It’s perfect for busy families looking for a high-quality homeschooling experience with less daily responsibility.
Supernova includes several exclusive features not offered in Mission Command. These include:
A dedicated advisor who handles all administrative tasks, such as progress tracking and documentation
Weekly Student Circle sessions for peer interaction and instructor feedback (2 hours/week)
Weekly progress reports for parents to stay informed
These additional supports make Supernova a comprehensive, hands-off solution for families seeking a premium homeschooling experience.
Do students have opportunities to interact with others?
Absolutely. In the Supernova track, students participate in a weekly Student Circle—a live, online session where they connect with peers, engage in collaborative activities, and receive guidance from an advisor.
Additionally, both students and parents are encouraged to join our official Facebook groups, where we post updates about upcoming local meetups, virtual events, learning opportunities, and community announcements. It’s a great way to stay connected, find support, and build lasting friendships.
How does the grading system work?
Automated grading is built into the platform for most subjects, while written work and projects may require parent scoring with advisor support.
Parents will receive clear guidance on how to assess and record their child's work using the BJU Press Homeschool grading standards. Our advisors provide instructions, rubrics, and checklists to help you evaluate assignments, quizzes, and tests accurately.
Whether you're using print or online materials, we ensure you're equipped to track academic progress with confidence and clarity.
In addition to regular assessments, portfolio reviews are conducted periodically to provide a comprehensive evaluation of your child’s overall learning journey, showcasing progress across subjects and projects.
How long is the homeschooling year?
Under US accreditation, You have ten (10) to twelve (12) months to complete your academic year. But if you require a National Collegiate Athletic Association-accredited course for US college admission, then you only have ten (10) months to complete your academic year.
Can I apply no matter where I live in the world?
Yes, you can! We welcome applications from families all around the world. As long as you meet the application requirements, your location will not be a barrier.
